I'm using Debian for servers exclusively for more than a year now. But
before that I used to use SUSE, and back then I rolled my own FireHOL
rpms using the .spec included with it (with some changes, I think, not
sure now).

I don't think those distributions aren't using FireHOL because of not
having been any recent releases. It's just because nobody approached
the Fedora Project saying "I have this rpm here that I'm willing to
maintain, do you accept it?".

But, like I said, I agree that the current CVS version, if it is
considered stable, should be labeled a "release", just with a note on
the site and a tarball on the files section and nothing else even.
Just a hint to package maintainers (or other users monitoring the
releases on sourceforge) saying the project is alive.
